Factfile:
What is County General?
"County
General" is actually the name of the hospital that is featured in the
award-winning TV-series "ER".
However there is no hospital in Chicago that bears the name County
General. The TV-series is based inside a fictional hospital. Many
people believe it takes place in the Cook County Hospital. As a matter
of fact, the first season of ER was intended to be set at Cook County
Hospital.
It was mentioned in the pilot and several episodes. However as the
series progressed and evolved, the producers eventually came up with
the name “County General” to act as their own flagship hospital-setting.
So for the record: County General Hospital is fictional and does not
exist. This website is purely fictional and does not represent any real
hospital
